A cancelled event this morning led us to a surprise meeting with Robin McCormick. Robin is the father of Corporal Zachery McCormick, a Canadian Soldier who was killed in 2009 in Afghanistan. Robin has had Zachery’s truck “wrapped” in graphics promoting the Canadian Hero’s Foundation, a Hamilton. Ontario organization that promotes support and awareness for the families of first responders and fallen soldiers.

Robin is on a tour of BC from his home in Sherwood Park, Alberta, on his own time and at his own expense. The pride he has in Zachery’s service is evident on the truck and in his speech. The tour began last Saturday night, an hour after Robin and his wife arrived home from attending the National Day of Honour ceremonies. After his visit with us he left on his way to his next stop in Parksville.  You can find his itinerary and photos on the organization’s website  at www.canadianheroes.com.

We’ve added photos of the truck below. Zachery is 2nd from the left.
