We’ve been lucky to have a Technical Assistance Visit here at the Museum to work with us. Mike Lindsay is an expert on artefact aircraft preservation and display who is here to conduct an assessment of our aircraft and help prepare a plan going forward.
One of the tasks was to repair two broken attachment points on the Dakota elevator. Mike fabricated new ones from metal stock and he and Jon Ambler, our Museum Programme Manager and Volunteer Coordinator, were attaching them. These are the parts that hinge the elevator to the tail so the aircraft can go up/down.
