Over the past several days, we have welcomed Larry Milberry, aviation author.  He’s been very impressed with our Museum and Library, as he’s been here gathering information for his next book.

Milberry is a lifelong aviation enthusiast whose first book, Aviation in Canada, was published in 1979.  Now an aviation classic, it was written over the course of ten years while he worked as a high school teacher in Toronto.  He ended his teaching career to start CANAV Books, his one-man publishing operation, in 1980.  Since that time, he has authored, co-authored or edited approximately 41 books on Canadian aviation history, including many of the best-known reference books on the subject.

His research has taken him to all parts of Canada and to many overseas destinations.  Though not a pilot himself, he’s flown in more than 100 types, including the C-130 Hercules, CF-18 Hornet, Sikorsky Skycrane, and the Antonov 124.

In 2004, Milberry was inducted into Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame.  In addition, he is an honorary Snowbird and a long-time member of the Canadian Aviation Historical Society.

Needless to say, we’re thrilled he’s spending time with us!  And if you’re looking for definitive books to help you with your personal research, come into our Library!
