Held last Saturday, the Cumberland Heritage Fair was a great success despite the weather!
The Comox Air Force Museum is honoured to be invited to participate and for the warm welcome we receive from the organizers of the Heritage Fair each year.
The friendliness and the information presented by the participants is second to none and makes for an extremely enjoyable day!
This year our exhibit focused on the RCAF Marine Services Unit. The displays consisted of typical Search and Rescue gear such as life vests as well as models of the various flotation aircraft used at 19 Wing Comox over the years. Special items such as an infant flotation cot, a “Gibson Girl” signal generator and a very tall Navy Petty Officer First Class attracted great interest from the crowds!
Thanks to Mel Birne and Gary Wiffen for creating and setting up the display, Len Phillips, Augustina Charles-Fredrikson, Corrine Bainard, and Rodney Jones for manning the booth, and especially to PO1 Robert “Bob” Sackett of the Marine Services Unit for putting up with us and doing such a great job explaining the significance of his unit.
A job well done by all.
