If you’ve visited our Museum, you’ve certainly noticed the Voodoo (Hawk One) that’s mounted at the entrance to the Comox Air Force Base.  During the recent Technical Advice Visit by Mike Lindsay, as well as a look at the aircraft in the Heritage Air Park, an inspection was done on the Hawk One.  Kevin Kinsella, our Heritage Maintenance Team Leader, took some photos of the day and reported,

HEADING OVER TO CHECK OUT THE HAWK ONE

“The findings from inspecting Hawk One were presented by Capt Barley and the Heritage Team to the CO and staff of 19 AMS.  Hawk One doesn’t belong to the museum but belongs to the base, so we have no direct responsibility for it.  While we had a SME (Subject Matter Expert) here to evaluate our aircraft we offered to conduct an evaluation of Hawk One using our SME and equipment.  A detailed photographic record and written evaluation with recommendations was given to 19 AMS for them to consider.  They will use this information in deciding what if any remediation/repair work to conduct, as well as possibly repainting in time for the next airshow in 2017.  As it guards the entrance to the base a structurally sound and good looking Hawk One is highly desirable.”
