JAMES MOFFAT WITH OUR MUSEUM PROGRAM MANAGER, JON AMBLER

Recently, one of our volunteers wrote about special visitors to our Museum.  Randy mentioned James Moffat in his article, YOU NEVER KNOW WHO YOU WILL MEET.

Recently awarded France’s Legion of Honor, James Moffat turned 95 just before his visit to CFB Comox and the Comox Air Force Museum.  Moffat is a former WWII flying officer who was the lone survivor of two bombers that had collided on return from a bomb drop over Germany.  He evaded capture in Belgium and France, having joined up with the Resistance for 6 months before the Americans liberated the area he was in.

His story is detailed in “Behind Enemy Lines”, written by Mary Thomas.  Accompanied by his son, Bruce, James Moffat visited our Museum and donated a signed copy of his book.
